Forest to kitchen
Six months of work, written down
A board that takes this long to make is worth keeping track of. Each piece is registered before it leaves the workshop, so the record you read belongs to that board and not to the range.
Wood selection & kiln drying
Only Perum Perhutani-certified teak enters the workshop. Each plank is kiln-dried for one to two months at a low, constant temperature until its moisture content reaches 8 to 12 percent, which is what removes any risk of warping or splitting later.
Target MC 8–12% · min 45 days kiln
End grain assembly
The dried teak is cross-cut into small blocks, then each is rotated 90° so the end grain faces upward and positioned by hand into the mosaic. That orientation is what makes an end-grain board self-healing and knife-friendly.
100% hand-assembled · no CNC
Food-safe glue & curing
The blocks are bonded with Titebond III food-safe waterproof glue, clamped under even pressure and left to cure for at least 96 hours. Every glue line is checked before the board moves on.
Titebond III food-safe · 96 hours cure
Surface flattening
Once cured, the surface is hand-planed and belt-sanded flat to within a fraction of a millimetre. No thickness planer: flatness is reached by hand, which gives the artisan full control over the final feel.
Flatness tolerance < 0.3 mm
Logo engraving & juice grooves
The Javanti mark is hand-routed into the underside. Juice grooves, where requested, are carved by hand with a rounded router bit, their depth and profile set to the size of the board.
Hand-routed · custom depths
Hand sanding, mineral oil & beeswax
Sanded by hand through 80, 120, 180 and 220 grit. Three coats of food-grade mineral oil are absorbed over 24 hours, then a beeswax and mineral oil blend seals the surface.
220-grit final sand · food-grade oil + beeswax

Registration
The piece is given its registration number, photographed, and entered into the record you are reading now.
